Can a free group help you reverse Type 2 diabetes?

Sherry

I’ve heard that free support groups can help with Type 2 Diabetes

Being diagnosed with any disease is scary and confusing. Type 2 diabetes is the same. You might feel overwhelmed and alone. I felt like I was stranded on an island with no information about how to get rescued when I received my diagnosis. I wondered where I could find support.

My doctor offered me medications. After the medications and advice to stop eating so much sugar, I did not receive any other help. I bet I’m not the only one who wanted to know: Can a free group help you reverse Type 2 diabetes?

Suddenly something was wrong with me and I did not know how to get more help. I asked if the office had a diabetes educator, and they did not.

Humans are not solitary creatures. We take great comfort in gathering with others. Especially gathering with others we have things in common with.

One of the best feelings in the world is feeling understood by others.

There are many other people going through a Type 2 Diabetes diagnosis. They have been in your shoes. They also have valuable advice and insight to share.

Can a free group help you reverse Type 2 diabetes? The answer is definitely YES.

Some benefits of Type 2 diabetes free support groups:

  • Reduces stress
  • Feel less lonely
  • Be less judged
  • Gain a feeling of empowerment
  • See positive examples
  • Learn about your disease
  • Gain resources
  • Get practical feedback
  • Reduces anxiety
  • Gain a feeling of belonging
  • Discover new treatments
  • Stay motivated
  • Share feelings
  • Improve coping skills
  • Be a part of something bigger

I didn’t get support or understanding from friends and family. They didn’t understand why I wanted to learn more. My family expected me to take my pills and quit asking questions.

They said to me: “the doctors always know best!”

I knew that my doctors were on my team. And I also wanted to be able to ask others questions any time, rather than waiting for my next appointment. If you are having trouble with your family because they do not understand the changes you want to make, read this helpful article that we wrote, here.

Finding support in a free group to reverse Type 2 Diabetes was powerful for me. I learned so much about strategies to deal with my symptoms from people who have been there and done everything. There were people who were happy to share their experiences and successes with me.

I felt less alone and more hopeful.

The answer to “Can a free group help you reverse Type 2 diabetes?” was a big yes.

An online support group is perfect.

They were there anytime I logged on. I could participate as much or as little as I wanted. I also had a degree of anonymity when I needed it. It was so easy for me to save images and take and save screenshots with helpful information.

Perhaps a little support is what you need at this point in your Type 2 Diabetes healing journey?

A good resource and a sense of belonging can only help.

You can join our free group here, and get some excellent dietary recommendations that may just reverse your Type 2 Diabetes diagnosis!
