Signs You Might Be Prediabetic

Sherry

It is important to know the signs that you might be prediabetic.

Prediabetes is a condition that can often go undetected. It’s usually neglected until it moves into a more advanced phase. By knowing the early warning signs, you can take measures to stop it from progressing.

This means you can prevent yourself from getting Type 2 diabetes, which is much more severe. It’s a more dangerous phase that is hard to combat.

Signs that you might be prediabetic:

One of the easiest ways to detect whether you have prediabetes is the darkening of your skin. Darkening usually occurs in specific areas like your neck, groin, armpits, and knuckles.

Individuals with this condition sometimes develop a disorder known as acanthosis nigricans. It’s a darkened appearance of the skin. This is due to the increased growth of cells in these regions.

Another early sign of prediabetes is fatigue.

People will experience a feeling of tiredness that has no obvious cause. One way to tell if you have prediabetes is by being tired for no reason and with enough sleep, food, and exercise. If this sounds like you, talk to your doctor about it.

Prediabetes is a condition that is not quite as severe as diabetes. It does not need to progress to become full-blown diabetes. It might be a sign that your blood sugar levels are not at the right level. This will only likely happen if the problem persists.

It is also worth noting that one of the most common indicators of prediabetes is excessive thirst. This can usually be detected when someone drinks a lot of water and is still thirsty.

Not only can excess thirst be an indicator of diabetes, but it can also be indicative of prediabetes.

Polyuria

Polyuria is a medical term that describes the frequent and excessive production of urine. This is caused by diabetes. This condition can lead to serious consequences if not treated. It may cause kidney-related diseases and high blood pressure.

Other signs of diabetes (Type 1) can also include unexplained weight loss.

Even if the person is not dieting and has not changed their eating habits. If you have lost more than ten pounds of weight in a short period of time and haven’t changed your diet or exercise regime, it could be a sign you have diabetes.

Blurred vision is another common symptom of many health problems. But it is especially so in cases of diabetes and pre-diabetes.

When there are high levels of glucose in your blood, the glucose can pull out fluid from the tissues around your eyes. This can mean that you will experience blurry or fuzzy vision. You will have difficulty seeing things as clearly as before.

High blood sugar also damages the tiny blood vessels in the eyes.

Nerves

High levels of blood glucose may cause harm to your nerves.

This leads to tingling and numbness in the extremities. It might cause pain in the arms and legs.

If you have diabetic nerve pain, seek treatment right away. So, if you’re feeling numbness and tingling it might be a sign of pre-diabetes.

Many people don’t realize they have prediabetes until it turns into a more serious condition.

Preventing the onset of prediabetes requires awareness of its various risks. Knowing you have prediabetes is important. Now you can take preventative measures.
